The body is a complex system and it is difficult to isolate specific food groups as a trigger for acne. However, there is a growing body of evidence that certain foods will lead to increased oil production. Consider reducing these foods your diet to see if the make a difference. Also consider adding spearmint tea if you have hormonal acne:
Refined Carbs and Sugars
Foods that are high in the Glycemic Index (GI) triggers insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2) hormones in your body which stimulate oil production. Popular culprits are soda, potato chips, refined breads oatmeal and potatoes.
Milk based products increase mTORC1 proteins in your body which stimulates oil production. Consider replacing dairy with soy products.
If you haven’t already, include nuts like almonds or walnuts in your diet as they are a good source of zinc. If you have a nut allergy, Take 30 mg of zinc gluconate per day. Studies have shown that it works almost as well as oral antibiotics for acne.
If you have hormonal acne, drinking spearmint tea may help to reduce testosterone levels, and hence reduce sebum production in your oil glands.

@amysacnehealing Yes I know the lighting is different but look at the difference in the texture 😍. Yes I still have acne, that hasn’t gone away however…the fact that my texture has improved has increased my confidence so much. I really do believe this is all down to @clearlybasics I’ve been using their power duo for about 3 weeks and I’ve noticed such a difference in the size of my acne spots…my face doesn’t hurt as much nor is as itchy as it was.
I would definitely recommend giving them a whirl it’s the only products that I can honestly say has made any difference to my skin. The difference it has made in 3 weeks is fab!
@amynuramira I have been struggling with acne for 10 years. This is by far the best product. I started out with brown pigmentation (acne marks) and a lot of tiny bumps of acne on my forehead, cheek and nose (kind of like sand paper). As soon as I started the Clear Out and Lighten Up, my acne bumps got smaller and smaller. My brown pigmentation began turning lighter (reddish pinkish).
Initially, when I started using it, I didn’t really get a ‘purge’ it was just a small amount of break outs which went away in a few weeks. Now my hormonal break outs are not as terrible as before, they still appear but barely noticeable. My skin is acne-free, pigmentation are still there but they’ve improved tremendously!
@myfriendacne At first I thought that my skin was THE thing that changed the most. It clearly is seeing from the surface. And here must say a huuuuge thank you to @clearlybasics for supporting me and give me the opportunity to take care of my skin.
After I looked at my pictures from last year I was shocked how my attitude has changed towards myself. I love myself more. I accept my skin, my body and my inner self so much more than a year before where I had the feeling to be perfect to my own imaginations and for other people.
@megdaviesx I’ve suffered with acne since I was 12 years old. Now at 25 I just accepted that I’d always have acne prone skin. When I came across Clearly, I had pretty much run out of hope, thinking ‘well why the hell not give it a go!’.
Only 2 months into my new routine, and I can’t believe this is my skin!! I am happy to go out of the house without makeup on but doing makeup isn’t a chore anymore either. My confidence has grown and I can’t believe I didn’t find Clearly sooner!
