Moisture is an important part of protecting your skin. Often people believe that moisturizing will further clog their pores. However, if you choose the right type of moisturizer for your skin, it will strengthen your skin and reduce the load so that your skin doesn’t need to produce as much oil.
Moisturizing to Reduce Oil
If you have oily skin, consider using our oil-free Matte Hydrator to keep your lipid barrier moisturized for longer so that your skin does not need to produce as much oil. Hyaluronic acid is a key component of your skin and can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water. It is strong enough to pull moisture off the surface of your skin and deliver it into the deeper layers of your skin.
If you have had issues in the past whereby the hyaluronic acid sat on your skin or created a sticky film, this is because the hyaluronic acid is too large to penetrate into your skin. The Matte Hydrator uses 100% medical grade ultra low weight hyaluronic acid so it easily penetrates into your skin where it can bring moisture into your skin.
Moisturizing for Skin Repair
Generally people with normal/oily skin do not have issues with irritation or flushing/blushing. However, if you have used a product that damaged your lipid barrier, use the Protective Moisturizer. It is loaded with peptides (amino acid building blocks) that help to repair your skin.
This formulation was originally designed for our users on oral acne medication. After a month of consistent use, you will find that your skin tone has improved and your skin is a lot less prone to irritation or flushing/blushing
Understanding Your Lipid Barrier
The topmost layer of your skin consists of dead skin cells that are held together by lipids. These lipids serve as a “mortar” that prevents chemical or biological irritants from entering the skin and to keep water and natural moisturizing factors from leaving the skin. People with oily skin tend to have a strong lipid barrier but it can be weakened if you use strong cleansers or acids that damage the barrier. It can also be stripped if you wash your face with very hot water.
Once the lipid barrier has been compromised, this area of skin can become dry, flaky, itchy, sensitive or can easily turn red. Accelerate the healing/repair by using Clearly Basics Protective Moisturizer in order to get your skin back to top condition.

Michaela Holzhuter I’ve struggled with adult acne for years. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars trying to grab at the next promise for clear skin. Clearly Basics is the first brand that actually worked for me! It’s simple (it actually decreased the time I was spending caring for my skin), it’s scale-able (buy one product or by seven!), and it works. I couldn’t be happier with this product and the continuous progress it has provided!
@gemskin__ A little progress goes a long way! 🙌🏻 In the first picture I think my skin was purging from the first week of using @clearlybasics ‘Clear Out’. I believe I actually cried either before or after I took this photo, my skin was super painful and I felt so ugly and self conscious!
The second picture is 5 weeks after using Clear Out, just scarring (being helped by using Lighten Up) and no actives!
I’m so happy with the results so far using these products and they have been the only thing that has helped my skin!
@beatlebarbs Hey guys! So I rarely write reviews, but I’m going make an exception, because it literally changed my life (what a cliche I know).
I’ve suffered from acne pretty much my whole life. I’m generally a happy and optimistic person, or at least I try to be, but acne made it impossible for me. It got to a point where I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror without crying. I didn’t wanna go out or even meet my friends. My self confidence was nonexistent. I had severe anxieties and break downs. I sought the help of a GP and dermatologist but nothing worked. Antibiotics made it even worse.
Then I read about the Clear Out and the reviews were great. Still a bit skeptical, I decided to give it a shot and thank God I did. My skin improved drastically and even though I still get a pimple or two every now and then, I am overall very happy with the results.
@thoughtsofhealing I’ve been using @clearlybasics for over 4 months but here’s a difference from June 3rd and August 2nd!
The ingredients in @clearlybasics Clear Out is AMAZING for hyperpigmentation.
A complete GAME CHANGER!
@hayleyfoster I’ve been using clearly range for almost 6 months now and it really has changed my life! I’ve suffered acne my whole life and although it may not be as bad as others its bad to me and has affected my life everyday. Initially my skin got better with the power duo then I seemed to go through a blip. I contacted Clearly and after sending some pics they gave me some advice and created me a more concentrated formula which worked amazingly and I can now dermaroll to help get rid of the scaring and finally feel I can leave the house without makeup!
I was skeptical to start with as I’d tried everything, been on prescription oral medication at a young age and it just came back within a year. I’ve tried all creams from GP and over counter stuff but none have worked until now with the help of clearly. If you are wonder whether to try it just give it a go! You have nothing to lose! I’m so glad I found Clearly Basics!
@brittaneyshanae I swear the Power Duo (Clear Out and Lighten Up) are a GOD-send! I’ve been using both consistently for 3 months now and my skin has NEVER looked or felt better! I haven’t experienced a breakout since March and more than 80% of my hyperpigmentation is GONE!
I’m so grateful to have finally found a product that actually works for my skin!
If you’re dealing with acne breakouts and hyperpigmentation, you should def research Clearly Basics.
